December furtle

Goodness I dont know where to start! In many ways its been my usual December a frenzy of finishes! I simply hate carrying a project over to the new year if I can help it (Blossom Jane is an exception!) I like nice neat finishes.
So first up, and this is in no particular order! First is the wheel of the year from stitch doodles, I did enjoy this
Up next is the Celtic wheel of the year from Carina Craft Blog, now this one I adored making I do love Carinas patterns. This will go on the wall!
Yes my top nine, I didnt share on instagram as I saw a fair bit of snark about top nines, but I still wanted to make mine just to see, I am happy with it, it pretty well sums up the year 😊
Aww cute wee dorset button, I do love making these, very satisfying and a nice reminder of the FOQ this year where I bought it

And yes this is a christmas movie 😂 and its the only christmas movie I could get scoobs to watch, so very happy to make do with this one!
Oh my Alan Rickman, surely the best screen baddie?
Aww Alexander Gudonov, a real teenage heart throb of mine!
Well this is very apt for a furtle post! I found these while furtling around in my button box, memories and momentos of the stitch gathering of 2017. I adored the stitch gatherings, so many friendships and happy memories made there
I am sloooooowly getting sucked back into Christmas but I am still standing strong with the "no presents" line, well mostly strong! I made these cute pin cushions for chums, lovely pattern by Arabesque Scissors
Oh and we finished another big cat! 4 down 5 to go! This is the tiger and I do love him rather a lot
Here he is with chums
I thought this was going to be the last quilt of the year, but no .... there is another to come! this is the sunny patches BOM from Coriander Quilts, I loved making this esepcially with the really bold setting
My lovely chum Jo brought back these cute labels from holiday, now I never really think about labelling the quilts I keep for myself but I should, I labelled 3 of my liberty quilts and have thoughts about making more labels so I can label everything else.
Aww and this came through! I love this email. For about 14 years now this lovely man has been passing on emails to me, His name is Samuel and he has almost the same email address as me, so if someone mis types my email he gets it. He passes them all on, always with a sweet message they always brighten my day

I found an ideal xmas card for scoobs 😂 I had already bought him one but this year he gets 2! because he is that special 💗

Last but definitely not least! My final quilt for 2023 😊, this was very last minute when I decided to make all the 6 inch blocks as well 🤣 but im glad I did and I love the finished quilt, so here it is in my very wintery house 🤣
So! Many many thanks to Archie The Wonderdog for hosting these furtles I do enjoy them so much 😊 have a lovely hogmanay ❤️

November furtle

Well November was a very mixed month! but in a nice way, lets start with a finish! I blogged more about this here this is a lovely pattern by Ankas Treasures all done in Liberty quilting cotton, destined for Alice Caroline SOS quilt project
Sewing with chums! is there a nicer way to sew? I dont think so 😊, I used to work with Tricia and we bonded throughout the pandemic, a bonkers time but I got a good friendship out of it so not all bad 😊 I am working on my latest floral big cat, which wont be done in time for this furtle but fingers crossed ready for December

this picture is just too good not to share again! I sent off a block to Chris English for his bearpaw quilt, he asked us to use recycled fabric if we could, Scoobs wanted me to use the shirt he had on in this picture so I obliged 😂
Here is the block
I was mostly working on the sashiko stars for this month, but managed to squeeze in another bit of quilt wrangling with this one, its huge!!! Its the sunny patches one from Coriander quilts, Im hoping to get it done before we have visitors at the weekend cos we will need the sewing room space. But oh my it is huge!

Thats it for November! linking up as ever to Archie the wonderdog furtle!

October Furtle

So! What has been happening in October? Lots of different things. I got caught up with my William Morris wheel of the year
There were a few quilt finishes, below is quilt for Henry the dog. Full story here
Below is my Quiet Play Under the Sea quilt, full story here
Darn pic below is upside down, bit like me at the moment!! It's my 2023 temperature embroidery, I had fallen behind but now all caught up 😊
I do love making an Emmaline bag and made this to go to Henrys mum along with his quilt

Oooft this was a marathon ... I really wanted to getting cracking with my Bubbles quilt all made in speckled fabric. But fpp ing the blocks was so time consuming, I spent a little time and worked out the maths to machine piece which allowed me to motor on.

Main difficulty was getting more background fabric! A lot of the navy speckles are very similar. Thanks to the fabric fox I managed to source the right navy.
Need a bigger floor ...
It's all pieced together now and ready to go to Cath to work her long arm magic
Final furtle is my new bobble hat for swimming! Really easy pattern from love crafts and I love it!
Thanks again to Archie for hosting the monthly Furtle 😊

September furtle

Ah well I had hoped to post more finishes for September but they will have to wait for October, I couldnt post a picture of a quilt without Scoobs doing his usual!
so what has been happening in September?
Well there was a trip to Ikea!
This is the Rashult, the smaller version of the Iconic Raskog, I really want to get the sewing room as efficient and streamlined (but still cosy!) as possible, it is now my office! so lets apply all the management techniques I have honed over the years to it 😊I have a small space beside the featherweight which is perfect for the raskog, so in it pops!
I also bought the lid to go on top so I can use it as a surface as well
And this got done!!!! All ready to go off to the lecturer I used to work with who claimed it, with the start of a new academic year she will need it .......

And this is one of the quilts I wanted to be able to show finished but time ran away from me, it will wait for October! This is a quilt top for a very lovely doggy - Henry more on that story next month. I used the pappersaxten templates which I adore and had great fun with
Oh I did finish this! a very late birthday present for my niece. I love an Emmaline bag
this is finished too! the quiet play BOM, just out of the wash and waiting for Scoobs, so final show in October
And last but not least a lovely thank you from a quilty chum. We met up at FOQ and she mentioned she was looking for the latest line of Pips from Aneela Hooey. I saw the next day that one of the stalls had some charm packs, she had flown home by this time to I messaged and said did she want me to pick them up? So I duly did and posted off to her. Good job I did, I have no idea what was going on with Moda because the didnt do a second printing?? so the first printing was mainly used up in pre cuts, not idea what they were thinking about there?
A very nice thank you though, how lovely!
See you all next month!

August Furtle

Well! August has been a very very busy month! goodness, we started with  a raft of husbandsholdingquilts action from the Scoobs! I quilted 8 tops for Siblings together, I wont post them all here, I blogged about them so if you want to see them all go here!
Below is my own quilt for siblings a collaboration with my bee mates, I do think its glorious!
Below is my Riley Blake BOM for this year I loved using up a lot of batiks, im still thinking about whether I do as many SALs next year, perhaps not, I love the layout on this but "whispers" I do find a lot of the blocks in SALs a bit samey?

And talking of SALs! I made a start on the main blocks for the Sunny patches SAL by Coriander quilts, I dont have a picture yet of the setting blocks, they were really interesting a jelly roll HST must get some pics for next furtle!
Also making progress with My quilting life BOM I was a bit unsure about the fabric choices but it's growing on me
This was also finished! I do love this a LOT, when I posted it on twitter a lecturer I used to work with claimed it! so it has a good home to go to, its a Get stitch done pattern, I have more patterns and will make more.
This wee beauty has really come into its own this month, I now have it set up permanently in the sewing room and it is only for FPP and bulky things which my main machine gets an attack of the vapours 😂
It stormed through the making of two machine covers, now I am doing more and more sewing the dust and floof in the sewing room is really building up and I dont think its good for the machines. So Voila! two sewing machine covers, the main machine refused to go through the bulk but the wee featherweight stormed through it
also a great chance to use up these glorious fabrics!
Talking of SALs I used some really bad weather and the abscence of Scoobs for a weekend to get cracking with the quiet play under the sea SAL, I have had a checkered history with this one, the original fabric I bought for the background was useless, I prewashed it and it didnt stop running, eventually I gave up (long story) and substituted this hungarian blue fabric for the background, it works really well but I have been anxious I dont have enough as I am using up smaller bits of it rather than meterage. But I think I will just have enough! Hurrah! These are the scallops needed for it, I just have five more to do then I am joining it together!

Above is the state of play with all the main blocks done!
Ahh what is this below? Its the start of a stichbook! when visiting a good chum in Orkney she introduced me to a chum of hers who made a whole load of stitch books, we both got intrigued and want to make our own, below is the start of mine to document the holiday
Awwww I couldnt let a furtle for August finish without mentioning the FOQ, goodness what a great event it was this year! Highlight had to be seeing Jen (Muminthemadhouse) and getting a picture with her and the water bottle she gifted to me via Helen, many many years ago, if that water bottle could speak 😂the FOQ was great this year it always is, but the best bit? Not having to go back to work on the monday 😂💓

And since its August lets say hurrah for celebrating my first full year of retirement. Its been a blast.
