Winter mystery project

It has been quite a while since I have done much epp, I made a pouch for a chum about 18 months ago but that was it! I gave it up due mainly to eyesight and tendon issues, the eyesight is now bionic thanks to cataract surgery, the jury is still out on the tendon issues! But I thought a little every now and then would be the best course of action.
So the 2023 winter mystery project from Nordic Crafter and Stitching notes seemed perfect. I loved this, it used up some liberty scraps was great fun so an all round win!
Not sure what I am going to actually do with the basket! to be fair I have rather a lot of storage .... but hey its pretty and was good fun to do.

Presents for chums

Farewell lovely Jo! Awww happy sad memories! When I was first diagnosed with RA I put a call out for quilters which RA for tips and ways of dealing with it. Lovey Jo, quilty doings on IG replied and was so so lovely.

After a few chats we realised we lived within half an hour of each other and both worked in Edinburgh!!

We met up for coffee a few times, went to the pictures, the cameo to see Alexander McQueen doc. I introduced her to Stirlingshire stitch, Killearn group and the rest is history.
Over the past two pandemic years me her and lovely Kim have kept each other buoyant. Car park picnics in kaleidoscope. Long lunches outdoors at the wood house. Chums like these don’t come along often and when they do you Cherish them.
Lovely Jo is moving back to England to be near family. We will still keep in touch but no more impromptu Friday/Saturday breakfasts or lunches. I had one last lunch with Jo at the wood house and gave her this as a leaving present. It’s a Hexie project pouch by vintage sewing box. Lovely pattern and I adored making the hexies, even the teeny ones with my new bionic eyes!
Awww Jo I will miss you, you are a great chum. We will still keep in touch and all the best my lovely.

Hexies, another FAL Q4 finish

This was an after thought to the FAL list for Q4 when I was tidying out the patchwork room I came across all these hexies flowers I made ages ago. I do love paper piecing but tendon and shoulder issues mean I can't really do too much hand stuff so I don't think I will be making any more of these.
Soooo let's use them up! Simple machine applique onto plain white fabric and we are good to go.

I made the back from a Corie Dantini panel I won in a raffle plus some orphan blocks and pieces of frozen fabric I had left over.
This isn't big enough for a siblings together quilt but will make a lovely Linus one I think.

Apple core cushion from stitch gathering!

I loved making this, I did a great applecore EPP class at the stitch gathering with Fiona poppy makes. Loved making this and it looks great in the Japanese fabrics.
