Pick a petal months 2 and 3

So let's see how months 2 and 3 go! There is one block for each month, we need 30 of each, from the Facebook group month 2 sems straightforward but month 3 is giving some folks difficulties. I learned from month one that I need to be a bit looser with my seam allowance and stricter with my template marking so let's see if I can get these 2 months to come out more to size! I figured I can cut out the majority of the block pieces from charm packs, which is good because I've had 8 laying around for ages needing used up! Ive put 2 aside for my Threadneedle street quilt the others I'll use here

I got the fabric for this basket years ago I decided it was too nice to cut up so I made a 1 hour basket out of it

I had 2 of the above

Ive decided to use the one below too, I got this several years ago from a lovely lady on social media Dustys100days I think was her username. I never met her but we chatted a lot. She sent me this from quiltcon in 2021? I think? Or maybe even 2020 I think it was held before lockdown?
I've kept it for years waiting for the right project. Well I think this is the right project 😊
So here is my 1st block 2! Am super chuffed with it, it's almost perfectly to size
Before pressing
After pressing!
I'm in the Facebook group for this but continually have to bite my tongue. So many folks just not reading any instructions or looking at the videos (which are fairly short but really good) so much whining about how long this will take 🤦‍♀️ I genuinely don't understand what they thought they were signing up for?
So above is month 3 before pressing 😊 but blimey its a tricky one to do 😳
Below is it after pressing its pretty near to size thankfully but I'll continue to cut the outer bigger and trim down just to be safe!

Below was my first attempt at machine sewing this one,  a bit more practice needed but this is the way to go i feel!

Second machine pieced one im slowly figuring it out

First outer block done, really straightforward
2 more completed!

All blocks so far
Im going to post this now, the blocks are on the back burner just now, all cut out and ready to go.

Pick a petal month one

I signed up for this BOM from Jen Kingwell last year, I got the box with all the patterns and the templates about April. It's sat around waiting patiently for me to be able to start it 😊
I finally felt up to it at the beginning of August. I have never hand sewn a whole block before so it was a bit daunting.  But you get access to a lot of instructional videos and let's face it I have plenty time to do this now!

I gathered together supplies, this is a tray i got from my beloved Infant school teacher Miss Jean Craigie, it was a wedding present. I adored Miss Craigie. Having all my bits laid out on this is very comforting 😊
the first partbwas to see together the center diamonds, fairly straightforward but getting all the points to match was a slight challenge
Jen suggests using a sandpaper board to cut out your pieces on, Mark got me some sandpaper to try it out on before i splurged and it does really help
pencils! I've had a few kicking about for ages they now have a good use in tracing out all the templates onto the fabric. Chum Nini has been a great help, I bought a white pencil for darker fabrics, turns out to be useless 🤦‍♀️ silver gel pen saves the day 😊
Well this has to go front and center! Im using up a bag of fabrics ive had donated or from destashes
But there is a lot of low volume needed so I did have to visit sew hot 🤣
OK center looking OK, she says not to press till the end 😬 it goes against my thinking but I'll honour it !
Those curvy edge bits were fiddly! And we need 120 more fornthe outer edge 🤣😬
Looks good!

Ta dah! Just got to add the outer edge now then press 😊
Ta dah!!!!! OK that didn't take too long! I'm chuffed with the way it worked out let's see how it presses out 😬
OK this is really square I'm pleased with that, its about 3/8ths" too small but that's fine I can fudge that 😉 totally chuffed with this so far
