marbling fabric

This post was started in the 17th August 2020, let's not get it to it's 4th birthday still in draft form!
I must have done the first batch of fabrics on February 2018!! That was the date on the floatation liquid bottle I used ... then i must have done some more in August 2020 so this is my oldest WIP by far!!! Let's get it off the list 😊
This is on my finish along list! (Now fettling list! This is how.old this qip is!)  I had great fun with this, just love doing this but it is a little bit of a faff to set up.

Ive said it before and will no doubt say it again! organisation is key 😊
Blocks drying

I do love this one!

I had 2 choices for background but the white didn't cut it

So the black won 😊

I also had 2 choices of setting the flying geese is fine but covers up too much of the fabric
So I went with snowballing it
Pretty chuffed with how it turned out

And here we are!!! My lovely Scoobs, I really enjoyed making this and have lots more paint left so who knows! Another may be done 😊

Selvedge quilt

hmmmm thats a lot of selvedges!!!! 15 years worth to be precise! I think thats how long I have been collecting them, one was dated 2015 and I know I was collecting for a few years before that. So it was long overdure to use them all up, I had looked at many patterns for them and settled on sewing them down onto very lightweight interfacing.

I duly bought said interfacing, cut it up into 8 inch squares and used a Killearn day to start on this journey. I would estimate about 15% of my Selvedges have been donated by chums so they were really pleased to see me using them up!
Above is a progress shot after I had ironed all the selvedges, memo to self, dont crumple them up in future keep them flat, below is action shot of selvedges being ironed!
The blocks came up so quickly loved it
So so many fabric memories in these, it was a real trip down memory lane
So interesting to see it all come together, but I had to stop myself reading all the selvedges!

it got quite intense at times!

I adored this fabric, cant find anything else by this designer but it was lovely to see the selvedge again

Not all selvedges made the cut! and thats fine!

Trimming was time consuming but fine to do

And from here on until finished quilt at the bottom I am just documenting the blocks, a real trip down memory lane!

And here it is!!! the finished product, I do love it rather a lot
