A hat for Lucy

two things annoyed me about my hat I made for swimming.
1 - I forgot to put it on fettle list 🤦‍♀️
2 - I always thought the pom pom was a bit scraggy
So! Here is my new improved pom pom!!! I love it!!!! Used up a few odds and ends of wool much better!
A lovely chum Lucy commented how much she loved it but she's not a knitter. So I knitted her one! She wanted blue so this time I remembered to put it on the fettle list ✔️
She loves it and it fits!

Bobble hat for the swimming!

Guess who forgot to put this on her fettle list! Anyhow, I need a bobble hat for swimming, keeps the heat in!
I have been wearing a hat my sister knitted for me years ago but thats pure wool and i dont want to get it wet.
Nothing to do but knit my own! Easy peas free pattern from love crafts. Came up very quickly

I wanted to make a pom pom it's a but scraggy but it will do 😊

A scarf 5 years in the making!

so many happy memories!! This was July 2018, it was the second indieburghcraft crawl an event organised by Edinburgh independent craft shops, you got a passport which you git stamped in each shop you visited. If you git them all stamped you got entered into a prize draw in the evening event. I think lovely Ruth won a great prize in 2018.
This was us just after lunch. I think i had just bought what affectionately became known as the worlds most expensive ball of wool. This is it below "Floating"  my colour was called lambs breath. It's a blend of silk cashmere and alpaca.
We got it from Ysolda shop, she is not usually open but opened specially for the craft crawl. She had designed the "Tresna" scarf especially for this wool i fell in love with it there and then.
I also bought the red wool as I was so scared to use the expensive one first because I hadn't knitted for many years! So the red ball was my stunt wool 🤣🤣

I eventually plucked up the courage to start the red knitting in July 2019 eventually finishing in December 2019 ....

This was it after blocking!
So here we are in February 2023 ... I thought if using this for another pattern since I had already made the tresna scarf in red but then I thought no, it was bought to make the tresna scarf so let's just do it! So I now have 2 teesna scarves as originally intended and I love them both 😊 plus its another big ✔️ off the fettling list!

Isabel shawl

Well this is full of so many memories, I bought this wool ‘merino singles’ by uschitata at the last indie burgh craft crawl. So many happy memories there, I was looking for a pattern to use up the single skein I had and the Isabel shawl seemed perfect. I have made three shawls now, they are useful for teams meetings if i dont have a glam top but need to posh up a bit (how very 2020 ....) this was finish no 4 on my q4 finish along list.

I really enjoyed doing it but there were a few oops! I messed up the pattern quite a few times which needed ripping out, then my circular needles unscrewed and about 50 stitches slipped off ..... I’m really pleased with it, just what I need for teams meetings

tresna shawl

I finished this just after Christmas, I got stonking through it while looking after my mam over Christmas. I bought the worlds most expensive ball of wool on the second Indie Burgh craft crawl almost 3 years ago! this pattern the Tresna shawl was written for that wool. I then realised that as i hadn't knitted for over 30 years it might not be a good idea to start with that wool! So i bought a skein of this glorious red from rainbow heirloom to  try making the shawl in.

The pattern was good fun when i eventually got back into the swing of knitting again, but i am so glad i didn't use the very expensive wool  there was quite a bit of ripping out in the early days!

This red is a brute to photograph! but i love this shawl, happy memories buying the wool as well!

FAL 2019 Q2 - first finish!

Well 13 isnt unlucky for me! My first finish for Q2 is no.13 on my list This was started at a beginners knitting class at Ginger Twist studios in Edinburgh. Fab class, made even better as my lovely chum Sheena was there too.

It got held up a bit because of shoulder issues but i got there in the end and i now know how to use circular needles!
