one last finish!!!

I didn't know if i would manage this one in time but look! i did! This was no.16 on my Q3 list the handpieced sampler BOM by Carolyn Foster for Todays Quilter. I love every minute of this which has been with me for 12 months now. I didnt hand piece it all but some of it :-) it was QAYG so i used the opportunity to use up some large scale prints on the back. Loving it! it will go to Siblings together.

 The last block!

Up up and away!

A finish! no 6 on my Q3 FAL list
I love liberty thats a well known fact! i have been lucky enough to get a fairly big stash of it, a lot through various road trips to standfast and barracks to pick up their seconds bargains. So many happy memories in those trips. I am still working my way through those meters and meters of fabric. I also signed up to many liberty stash building clubs. All this means I am very privileged position. Alice Caroline, every year runs an SOS quilt drive for children's villages, there is a quite specific size required which results in quite a long thin quilt. So i am always on the look out for patterns which will  fit. I knew that Sarah Ashfords up and away quilt would be perfect for this. Along with the Fairy Tale Castle quilt I could imagine children flying away in the hot air balloons to the Fairy Tale castles :-). My one and only scoobs, quilt holder extraordinaire was away on his epic trek so i save this up for him coming home. I wanted to give three quilts this year and i just managed it!
right, I come downstairs to see this waiting for me over the balcony!
and here he IS!!!!! my scoobs with my up and away quilt, lord the light was bad that day but i needed to get these posted, so you make do with what you have.
So we then attempted to show all 3 together ....
Wind not helping ...
Nope, lets try something else ...
Ermmmmm praps not?
Nope not working, lets try something else ....
OK these were the ones where i almost wet myself when i saw them !!!! Oh my scoobs i do love you ever so much my quilt holding soul mate :-)

Siblings together, my quilt for 2019

Righty ho! more finishes! this was no  15 on my Q3 FAL list but i have just realised i put the wrong picture against it! May was my month for the siblingstogether quilt bee im in I chose a nice way to use up 2.5 squares, make a 9 patch with them, then put together with a LV square and make 2 HSTs simples! border is a nice fishy Kaffe Fassett i got on the indie burgh craft crawl last year.
Ower Scoobs, posing as ever for his #husbandsholdingquilts action!!

Using up those charm packs!

Yup, another finish! i had a manic finishing session on holiday, this is no 9 on my Q3 FAL list  3 Janet Clare charm packs. Sometimes you just need to highlight the charms and not worry too much about cutting them up into teeny pieces!
Oh Scoobs you wee minx!
Thats better!

New York Beauty - at last!

Number 1!!! yup numero uno on my FAL2019 Q3 list New York Beauty , pattern by JoAvery, MyBearpaw. I have wanted to do this for ages, I bught a few FQ bundles of Tilda with a leaving present voucher from my old job. I just love tilda so much. As you can see from my (old ham of a) husband its quite a big quilt,  just the perfect size to go to siblings together!
And talking of jobs! I've got a new one, and i just wanted to show off my interview frock :-) Head of Learner and Academic Services at Heriot Watt University. For someone who got thrown out of library school in 1984 thats not bad going!

Anyhoo:
No.1 - New York Beauty in Tilda
The rows on this one are sewn together!!! this might just be a finish for this Q!

No.2 - Panda!
This is a pattern test so i dont want to do full reveal so here is a taster of him :-) yes he is in japanese fabrics! just need to add border and quilt

No.3 Paper Clip - Lucy Engels
I want to make Lucy's latest pattern in Japanese fabrics! i may have quite a bit of Japanese fabric ...

No.4 One more Cup of Coffee - Lucy Engels
aww man i have been collecting Lucys fabric since she started printing. I adore her fabric and she is from the same area as me to boot and a sooper luffly person as well :-) I have her pattern, i have the templates from Jenny Haynes. i just need to make it so.

No.5 Liberty Lone star
I commited to making 3 ... Alice Caroline SOS quilts this year. Its not like i dont have much liberty ...

 No.6 Liberty balloon
Im using Sarah Ashfords up and away pattern, I may have actually made some of these blocks,  only 26 more to go ...

No.7 Jo Avery Tea for 2
I love a Jo Avery pattern! I collected all of these patterns from Today's Quilter. I wanted to do it in bold fabrics, inspiration hit when i thought about using Japanese metallic and a bold green as the back ground and the backing, the vase fabric! got it at FOQ last year.
No.8 - Bee creative charm pack
Im not allowed to buy any more charm packs :-) well I did have a bit of an obsession at one time .... anyhoo Im using them up, I had 2 charm packs of Deb Strains Bee Creative so Im making it into a quilt for siblings

No. 9 Janet Clare charm packs, ditto my Janet Clare charms!

No.10 Michael Powell cross stitch
When a chum found out how much i love Michael Powell designs she unearthed a x stitch of his she had never got round to finishing. its lovely pattern, venetian windows.
No.11 Michael Powell bookmark
I always buy a bookmark from Michael Powell at the FOQ, this might be the last one i buy because im all Kindle now but i use them for my patchwork books.
No. 12 Tresna scarf
Woot woot! i have started knitting! I have the wool I have the pattern, just now need to fit in another 24 hours in the day.
No. 13  - Kam Martin Diamond primrose pattern
I pattern tested this and loved it so much i bought the templates ...! I think it will become a 'big scrap' quilt

No.14 Book nerd quilt
ARRRRRK, i was going to stop above but i cant have 13 on the list .... anyhow i was intending to do this pattern this year. I think i will make it my 'big scraps' pattern. There will be a few big scraps coming from some of the quilts above which will be perfect for this.

No.15 Bee HSTs
This is from siblings together bee. I asked for a LV and mini charm HST, the charms are in blues yellows greens mostly. I think i know how i am going to put them together just need to DO it!

The last block should be out before the end of Q3 and i have been mostly keeping up with this BOM  from todays quilter so I am hopeful! ever hopeful!
