Nantes, day six and seven! last full day!

So it was time to go, the last day was a day of filling in time, woke up to rain but it passed, my nice park had lots of bits closed off, I chanced 2 croissants for breakfast
pootled up past chateau.

Aww I miss C&A
pootled around for a bit, watched the Marathon, heard church bells. All very very lovely

Mini Bud was sad to go too
We chilled in our hotel until we had to check out, got the airport bus and made our way to the airport. Our flight was changed, originally I was supposed to fly back on the sunday evening but they changed it to the monday morning at 6.20! which meant I had to be at the airport for 4.20 am ..... the airport hotel was ok but not as nice as my main one in Nantes but it did for the evening, I managed to get some sleep before heading off first thing.
Journey home was OK, few delays but I had my kindle and my embroidery so eventually Scoobs picked me up almost 12 hours after I left Nantes!
I am still processing it all, this was a big thing for me and I almost backed out I was getting so nervous but it was fine. Ive been testing ever since I came back and all still negative, I am not so concerned about getting CV while in the UK (still dont want to get it!) but I really didnt want to get it abroad.
So thats it, now to plan the next one! lots of things to think about but travelling is now firmly back on the agenda!
Mini Bud agrees, he had great fun and loved pining his new pins to our pin pennant 😊

Nantes day 5!

Last full day in Nantes and off to the Iles des Machines! this was fabulous, I was of course awake very early because the marathon was on in Nantes and I was worried it might hold me up but of course it didnt so I got to the elephant half an hour early!

It was such an incredible machine! and the weather was fine but it was very cold up top, the staff were lovely and I didnt get vertigo which I was wary of.

It was difficult to get videos of it from the top, these were the best I could do!

There was another attraction there the Gallerie des Machine, it wasnt huge but was very interesting with lots of steam punk type machines and animals in there.

I had hoped to go to the Jules Verne museum but I was beginning to flag so again common sense took over and I went back to the hotel to chill.

Nantes day 4

Breakfast in the park again, pain au chocolat today very nice! The park is incredible.

Off to the castle, really nice, not the most amazing but lovely all the same, the castle museum was very good well laid out and curated.

As you can see Mini bud had a great time with the tins!!
I had booked a local restaurant for lunch, even pre pandemic eating out alone in a strange place is never easy, post pandemic puts another layer on it!
I had seen Sain on instagram and it looked lovely and it was. 3 courses plus wine for 29 euros??? the waitress was so kind and sweet, she translated the menu for me, I had gravalax, beetroot and feta to start with, boeuf compot fennel and chickpea humus to start with  then white chocolate sponge pudding, all accompanied by a very nice red 😊

I started to go back to the hotel but saw signs for the Iles des Versailles so I pootled off there, it was nice but not as pretty as my garden 😊

Back to base to re charge!
