Sunny Patches

Ta dah!!!! this is the last big quilt of 2023. there may be some smaller ones in the offing but I never like to carry anything over into the next year so we might just stick with this one!
It was a right fankle to get it through the machine!
I almost ran out of floor space layering it up!

But we got there in the end, I used the tool below for the first time, confession I have had this for YEARS! probably over 10!!! but it always felt like a faff, it closes your safety pins for you, but it does work and it does help so there, lesson learned!

The pattern is from Coriander quilts and was her mystery BOM this year, I wanted to do it because I was intrigued by the setting HST blocks, really big ones (10 inches) HST made with strings sewn together and a focal fabric, this would be great as a stash buster on its own, watch this space!
The blocks themselves were pretty standard, but again used up lots of scraps and left overs, although the scrap bag is still pretty full!
This is what it was like laying out, the large HST blocks came together really really quickly, loved them
Some of the focal blocks

Great patterns, fun sew along, whats not to love! heading off to Siblings together for their christmas camps
