February furtle

When the heck did it become March???? Well end of February.... 2023 marches on but there is one constant in this batshit crazy world of ours  and thats a furtle! So without any further ado let's see what's been up this month!

Is the world ready for a lego mini budsmam 🤣🤣🤣 a belated retirement present, so cute!
I've been playing catch up with embroideries this is the 2023 sunny quilt embroidery by Lemon drop shop, fun free stitch along on Instagram, I also managed to finish last year's cosy quilt at the same time! Two ✔️s off the fettling list!

Both of these will go into my temperature embroidery book, I still need to put together the one for 2022 ... thats fir another furtle though!
Awww my scoobs! I made this stitch on banner for a chum who is in the process of getting a sewing shed built, she is a big Tula fan. I love making these banners, great pattern by happy sew lucky, quick make too!

So who wore it better 🤣🤣🤣 this was a bit of fun on Instagram. More importantly it marked the finish of one of my longest wips! The tresna scarf.

Another present for a chum the organiser of the Gartmore retreat, I had forgotten what a satisfying make this pouch was, the boxy clear pouch by Aneela Hoey.
My favourite urn from Gartmore!
I made a start on the bubbles quilt. I'm doing it in speckled fabric I want it to look like planets. I'm thinking of either 4x4 or 5x5 layout I love the look but to be very honest the blocks are really tedious to make ... but I love the effect so will plough on with it.
Awwww 🐼🐼 stitch markers ❤️❤️ a lovely present from a super chum 😊
Milkshake vending machines 😳 who knew they were a thing! We stop off at the smiddy farm shop sometimes for a bacon roll, unfortunately dairy is not my friend at the moment so I didn't indulge!

I love epp and do hope to do a bit more but I'll never be able yo do a huge amount so the winter mystery project from nordic crafter and stitching notes was ideal for me. Great fun.
And also this happened!

Yup! I am going to see Donny Osmond!!!!!! I know its hysterical but hey it will be a fun weekend with two of my oldest chums and I simply cant wait 😊
Let's finish off with this, I will write it up more fully but Katy Cameron gave me a fq bundle of playtime by Melody Miller to make a charity quilt. Using the omcoc pattern by Lucy Engles I made this! So much fun to do.
So that's a wrap for February, quite a few ✔️ off the fettling list there! See you in march!

Playtime quilt

My Scoobs! doing what he does best and those bears!!!!!!! how flipping awesome are they! love them. But thats the back, lets look at the front!
Oh my, even if I say so myself I do love this quilt!!!!! Katy Cameron very kindly offered a bundle of Melody Miller playtime fabric for me to make a charity quilt, I knew straight away that I wanted to revisit the OMCO pattern by Lucy Engles, and it gave me a chance to use my pappersaxsten templates too, win win!

I had to shoogle the layout a few times but was pretty chuffed with the final layout!
I had to use up the last of my Bears holding hands fabric from IKEA for the backing, how awsome is that, love it and need to get more.
I struggled with finding suitable binding for it, I was scared to ruin the effect but then I found  a half meter of Ombre fairy dust in hot pink - PERFECT!!!!!!
Thank you Katy! this will wing its way to siblings, I know someone will love this.

February cinema

Oh my! there hasnt been much film action in February, but thats fine, I will have been doing other stuff! I do love the Msuketeers though! and the 80s versions are my absolute favourite, Roy Kinnear as Planchet - perfect! But I had forgotten how reflective of their time they are, its often challenging to watch cinema from that era with modern day sensibilities but they were still damn good fun. Lovely Raquel Welch too. A very firm 8/10 for this.
Speaking about sublime just how amazing does Elizabeth Taylor look! and OMG that hat!
Bitching it up a storm with Kim Novak!
Rock Hudson, always a safe bet in a film.
I was torn about Angela Lansbury as Miss Marple, I think the make up to age her didn't help she was OK in the role but not perfect, but still a solid 7/10 for the Mirror Cracked.

Winter mystery project

It has been quite a while since I have done much epp, I made a pouch for a chum about 18 months ago but that was it! I gave it up due mainly to eyesight and tendon issues, the eyesight is now bionic thanks to cataract surgery, the jury is still out on the tendon issues! But I thought a little every now and then would be the best course of action.
So the 2023 winter mystery project from Nordic Crafter and Stitching notes seemed perfect. I loved this, it used up some liberty scraps was great fun so an all round win!
Not sure what I am going to actually do with the basket! to be fair I have rather a lot of storage .... but hey its pretty and was good fun to do.

Boxy pouch in Speckled fabric

vinyl is really hard to photograph isnt it! I made this boxy pouch (pattern by Aneela Hoey) in speckled fabric for a chum who organised the Gartmore retreat. These are some of  her favourite colours of the Speckled fabric which is to be fair quite splendid in all its colours so you cant go wrong with it!
I had forgotten what a fab pattern this was, going to make more of these i think.

Stitch on banner

Oh how I love a stitch on banner! super fab pattern from Happy Sew Lucky, this was made for a chum who is getting a sewing shed built, she is a big Tula fan so what better to go on the back other than Tula pandas!

Gartmore first one for 2023

So this is the bag for clothes!
And these are the bags for sewing 🤣
Dinky ikea trolley at the ready!

Yip it's the first Gartmore of 2023. There was a time when I wondered if I would ever get to Gartmore again but the retirement Gartmore plus the one rolled over from 2020 last year reassured that it was still an option.
This visit was with a new group the Killearn switchers, organised by Kim.
But Gartmore doesn't change, whoever I go with the house is a constant, its like visiting an old friend.
We were in the same toom that we have been in for a few years now.

I went and visited the Cayzer room just for old times sake 😊
So many happy memories here!
For this retreat I wanted to do the bubbles quilt, I bought a lot of speckled fabric and wanted to make the bubbles quilt in it, I'm hoping it looks like planets!
I think it will!
Snowdrops were out in force and the urns were looking fantastic

Awww my little Dinky trolley all packed to go home, but I've loved being back at Gartmore , I've been here with so many different groups but the house and the vibe stays the same.  Don't know when I'll be back or who with but Gartmore will always be a very special place.
I wanted to steal this mirror! It's fab!
My favourite urn 😊
