I signed up for this BOM from Jen Kingwell last year, I got the box with all the patterns and the templates about April. It's sat around waiting patiently for me to be able to start it 😊
I finally felt up to it at the beginning of August. I have never hand sewn a whole block before so it was a bit daunting. But you get access to a lot of instructional videos and let's face it I have plenty time to do this now!
I gathered together supplies, this is a tray i got from my beloved Infant school teacher Miss Jean Craigie, it was a wedding present. I adored Miss Craigie. Having all my bits laid out on this is very comforting 😊
the first partbwas to see together the center diamonds, fairly straightforward but getting all the points to match was a slight challenge
Jen suggests using a sandpaper board to cut out your pieces on, Mark got me some sandpaper to try it out on before i splurged and it does really help
pencils! I've had a few kicking about for ages they now have a good use in tracing out all the templates onto the fabric. Chum Nini has been a great help, I bought a white pencil for darker fabrics, turns out to be useless 🤦♀️ silver gel pen saves the day 😊
Well this has to go front and center! Im using up a bag of fabrics ive had donated or from destashes
But there is a lot of low volume needed so I did have to visit sew hot 🤣
OK center looking OK, she says not to press till the end 😬 it goes against my thinking but I'll honour it !
Those curvy edge bits were fiddly! And we need 120 more fornthe outer edge 🤣😬

OK this is really square I'm pleased with that, its about 3/8ths" too small but that's fine I can fudge that 😉 totally chuffed with this so far
