April look back

I got my eyes done!!! Amazing what a difference just transformational.

Consultant was lovely said my left eye was really bad, after 10 mins looking them over he said he could do it for me there and then! It took 10 mins for my pupils to dilate then it took about 5- 10 mins per eye, most of that was prepping the procedure took just minutes! I was out in under an hour 

What an incredible difference it is massive, ive had to turn down the brightness on all devices i had them turned up way high

Reading is back to normal and ill try embroidery later today, worth every penny!

Awww my chum in Aberdeen has just moved flat near to where I lived as a student in Prospect Terrace, it was a fab wee house, no longer there it was an old pre fab she sent me this picture 

This is my sock! 🤣 a game the selkies were playing and they wanted me to join in so Kim collected a sock from me. It was guessbthe selkie from their sock 🤣

Mam sent me this a very early picture of my gran and Uncle Ernest

Kim visited to pick up the sock and brought me some daffs!

It was easter !

I managed downstairs but it was a bit much and triggered fatigue we think we know why so ill try again soon

It was Mark's birthday! He got a card from Jacky

And cupcakes from me! This was my cupcake and very nice it was too

I got to see the blossom! This was on the way to my post op check up for my eyes

Mark unearthed this photo from his birthday in 2006, a month after we moved in here!

April furtle

I've been salvaging fabric! I wrote more about this here

Also catching up with more pick a petal blocks. This is the first of the outer blocks I need 64 in total but I was pleased this came together quite easily, I'm doing this all by machine now. Hand piecing is not my thing!

The blossom is blossoming in Bonnybridge! So it's time to start this beautiful blossom sashiko kit, I'm loving it, gorgeous silk thread a dream to use

I ticked something off my fettle list! I blogged more about it here this is a pressing mat made from fabric salvaged from an old bag.

Steady progress on my "pages read" embroidery tracker, I usually like to be half a month behind so it's all good 😊

Bunny fabric

I made this tote years ago, I did like it but it got grubby over the years and also some of the binding came away and I really wasn't using it any more.

But I love the interior bunny fabric it's one of my all time favourites. So let the seam ripping commence 🤣

Ohhhh this was cathartic!

I mean how could you not love this fabric ❤️

So I now have two largish chunks of the fabric was pressed and ready to use. I think I'll let it marinate for a while, the fabric is light so I don't want to make something which will get grubby quickly. But I'm happy to have salvaged it!

Pressing mat

This must have been made in 2016 ish? Definitely after 2015 as i got some of these fabrics in America. I did use this a lot initially but now not so much but I think I'll turn it into a pressing mat. 

I can't use a full iron and there's no room for an ironing board in my new sewing room but I need something to press fabric and blocks on

I wanted to use the inner  parts of the pressing mat, in particular the silver reflective part (i bought a cheap ironing board cover to get this part) so I ripped off all the handles and the outer cover

I have this bag which im no longer using much i put in a center divider which i regretted, it made it much less useful but I.love the main panda fabric it's one of my favourites plus its heavier weight canvas so ideal for a pressing mat

So let the seams ripping commence!

Right let's see how much usable fabric i can get!

So i got some really decent chunks from the main body and pockets. I decided using the 'bagging' technique would probably be easiest for me, i sewed several strips together to make a long panel then i sewed up three sides of it. 

I then cut the silver reflective part of the old iron caddy to size and slipped it inside after cutting down to size.

I then top stitched the open seam closed et voila!

I am soooooo pleased with this its perfect! Its fits nicely on the table beside my cutting mat and I adore the fabric too 🥰🐼

Ticking this one off my fettle list!

April seasons

Sooo I swithered and swithered about what i should take a picture of for my seasons in 2026. I then decided to take an overview of each side of the house, we will be moving in a few years and I want to capture the house as it is. 

OK April looking more springish both blossom trees are blossoming away, more buds on the trees too, they look a lot fuller plus the roses are coming up
