Nantes Day 3 - Pour l'amour du fil

Well this was a lovely way to start the day! Mini bud agreed too 😊This garden was just sensational and so calming, I was loving the trip but oh my what a lot of overwhelm! Coming here at the start of the day helped massively.

I now felt like an old hand at the trams so that was easy but the queues at the exhibition center were massive so I pootled off to the Parc Floral which was right next door, I had seen this when I was organising the trip and was keen to see exactly what it was like.

Oh my it was just as stunning as the garden next to the hotel! I cannot imagine how beautiful it would be in full bloom.

Along with my breakfast in the parc next to my hotel this set me up for the day and I felt able to head on into the show again.

First I went round the stalls to finalise what I wanted to spend my money on, I knew my best chance would be to wait till lunchtime when the stalls were quieter.

Then I went round the exhibitions again, a bit more mindful this time.

I was delighted to see this one won a prize, it was in the competition for the show which was "windmills of my mind" 

This was an exquisitely pieced teeny teeny log cabin, if you look at the label and rosette above you can see how small the log cabins were, the piecing was exceptional.

Galla Grotto was not an artist I had heard of before this show, loved her quilts, I am not normally that attracted to art quilts but these were stunning I think it was her use of colour in particular which drew me to them.

Another new find was Dijanne Cevaal,  oh my the use of colour, I loved these quilts so much

I kept coming back to this quilt from the Best of quilt Nihon exhibit, exceptional, just exceptional work

I adored the one above, I would love to make a circular medallion

Next to the black quilt the most comments on instagram came for these bags, how exquisite are these?

The Korean exhibit had some lovely quilts too

I tried to get lunch but the food trucks were all queued out so I went back to do my purchasing! I had been swithering about Petra Prins kits, I knew I wanted to do the sisters one but also saw one called threadneedle street, it was 90% applique!!!! I have not done much applique and certainly not on that scale, but hey in for a penny!!!! so I bought both, they were so lovely on the stand and they gave me a badge too!

I bought more from Odille Bailloeul her stand was stunning, I initially thought I would make a lone star from her fabric but Im not sure any more, the fabric is lovely but some of it is so big scale it might not translate well into a lone star, I shall mull over and see! This was my last day at the show, I had bought a 4 day pass but 2 full days was enough, the show was fantastic but this was a big thing for me and I was quite overwhelmed, I practised some self care and headed back to the hotel. I found a nice sushi place at the train station, I also found the lovely restaurant I wanted to eat at - Sain, so I booked it for lunch for the next day.

I had a bit of a pootle and found these fantastic pots at one of the entrances to the Parc
