Arcadia avenue

Seems the right time to blog about this wip. I fell in love with the Arcadia avenue pattern by sassafras lane as soon as I saw it.

Now me and paperpiecing have a fractious love hate relationship ... Going waaaay back. The whatthe bobbin fussycut swap has cured that to a certain extent. So anyway I bought the pattern and did the first block, and hated it ...

Not the patterns fault but my choice of light medium and dark fabrics, crowd sourcing advice on Instagram helped and I replaced the light grey with white and voila!

A lot better don't you agree?

So am motoring on now, have the first four done:

I think I will always have a bit of a love hate relationship with paper piecing, but we are coming to a mutual understanding!

Linking up to WIP it up Wednesday

  1. Like you my love of paper piecing has it's limits...I like what it can do for me but the tedious nature of it near sends me over the edge! Your blocks are absolutely stunning, I hope you are thrilled with them. The solids really shine in these settings!

    1. Thank you so much! You are so right, it has many benefits but a similar amount of drawbacks! And yes I am thrilled with them.
