I was lucky enough to attend a talk by the super fabulous Karen Lewis arranged by the Edinburgh Modern Quilt guild.

She was amazing and made me look at fabric afresh and with a less jaded eye. I don't think I had realised it but I was getting a bit 'meh' about fabric.

Her designs are stunning, I now can't wait to try a screen printing class with her.

I saw her fabrics would be ideal for the #ukigminiswap I entered into. The colours are totally what my partner would like.

So I set about cutting into the precious haul I bought and two days later:

Ta dah!

One mini swoon block (background neutral is Karen Lewis)

Mini swoon two, all Karen Lewis

Mini swoon three, background neutral is Karen Lewis

And here are all four together, the red and grey one is all Karen Lewis

So I think it is the start of a love affair with fabric again!

I've been away from my wee sewing room for almost a week.

It's my wee haven, an oasis of calm and tranquility. So I took some pictures of the happy things in there which make me smile. They keep me company while I'm away.

Mini quilt from great Brit bee swap 3 made by Kerry.

50th birthday pressie from fab Claire

Thank you present from student! They know me so well.

Mind Bud, when my lovely dog Bud passed away a lovely lady on Twitter knitted me a mini version. He is my comfort and joy. Accompanied by patch a doggie I made at the last stitch gathering.

Inspirational Michael Powell cross stitch cushions. I love these. Plus my kindle, God where would I be without that!

Giddy and twink calendar, so funny and lovely.

Saving the best till last :-)

African scallops/clamshells

Right, it's been linus quilts a go go chez Budsmam but now I have got most of them out of the way (watch this space, post coming soon) it's time to get on with 'other stuff'

Mind you this will end up as a linus quilt! All mine do.

I had a phase a few years ago for buying african fabric, in particular shweshwe. Love those blues indigos and pinks.

I could never figure out what I was going to do with them but when I saw Jo Averys scallops quilt in Love patchwork and quilting magazine. I knew it was perfect for these fabrics.

I now have all the scallops/clamshells cut out, soon to start the fun bit with the tinfoil :-)

Linking up to WIP it up Wednesday for the first time in a long time, it feels good!

I have a sore arm .... Awww.

Suddenly realised today I hold my left arm at a 45 degree angle when steadying larger pieces through the machine.

I am going to see a lady who will no doubt do many sore things to me to make my sore arm better.

Anyhoo, it's been a while. Progress has been made on the silk quilt, woo hoo!!

This involved making silk bias binding *weeps* but it was worth it, I think ...
